PITRA DOSHA & DUTIES OF A SON OR DAUGHTER

The reason for marrying and having a Son or Daughter is not to enjoy the wordly pleasure. As per the Hindu Vedas, every Men & Women is ought to marry and must father/mother a Child. The exact reason for choosing a male/female partner is not to indulge in sexual activities and enjoy Wordly benefits, but that Son/Daughter has to do Pitra Dosha or Pithru Tharpanam after his/her father's/mother's death. A Soul can not come out of its life & death life cycle, unless his/her siblings do the necessary Pitra Tharpanam or Pithru Tharpanam. Similarly a Son/Daughter is expected to perform the duties as a Son or Daughter, before & after the death of his/her parents. 1. The Aged Parents should be looked after well by their Offsprings. 2. The Son (or Daughter) has to put their parents head on their lap and chant Bhagawan's Nama (Lord's Mantra) during their final moments. 3. They should do the necessary religious rituals after the death of their Parents.

PITRA DOSHA & TEMPLE PRIESTS

Why should temple priests and their families gets affected by Pitra Dosha or Pithru Dosham? Priests of the Temples are the ones, who do the noble duty; they do service for the God. Still they also gets affected by this Pitra Dosha or Pithru Dosham. Let us see the reasons behind this issue. 1. Priests should treat every one equally before God; irrespective of their Caste, Creed and Closeness. 2. Priests should be attentive to the Public and should patiently hear their grievances. 3. The Priests should be attentive and should not be lethargic; they offend the God by acting in a lethargic manner. 4. The practice of honoring the devotees, who offer money and shunning the others, who do not pay. 5. The incomplete/inappropriate chanting of Mantras. 6. The actions, answers and counselling of the Priests should not be driven by the economic benefits. If a Priests fails to act correctly, then he we can assume that the Priest do actually earn the Sins, that gets converted into

IMPORTANCE OF THE COW

The Cow has been revered in the Hindu Vedas. Why and What is the reason for it? Let us see the reason behind it. 1. The Cow has been useful to the mankind on many ways; even its waste has some usefulness. 2. According to the Hindu Vedas, all the Gods virtually exists within a Cow. Hence feeding a Cow or looking after it, literally means caring and devoting one's time to the God. 3. All the Virtues are measured in terms of "Donating a Cow" like a Engine's power is measured in terms of Horse Power. 4. The Infants can be fed with Cow's milk apart from being fed by its own Mother.  Hence harming or killing a Cow would actually bring untold misery and trouble in the form of Pitra Dosha or Pithru Dosham to the entire family.

GOOD TIME FOR DEATH

As per Hindu Vedas, there are methods to calculate whether a person had died in auspicious time or not? You would wonder that why this kind of question is necessary? To calculate a Soul's Virtue & Sins during its life time, a Person's death is taken for calculations. Given below are the Good times for every person to die. 1. Death should occur between Sunrise and Sunset @ during day time. 2. Death should occur during the peak of the day @ around Noon. 3. Death should occur during Uthirayanam period (the time, When Sun starts to travel in the Northern direction) @ between January 15th to July 14th (approx). Tamil Month (Thai to Ani). 4. Death should occur between the Day that comes after New Moon Day to next Full Moon Day. 5. Days with Thiruthiyai and Ekadesi. 7. Death should not occur on Avittam, Sathayam, Purattathi and Uthirattathi Star. If a Person dies at the above mentioned time indicates that he/she has lot of virtues to their credit. On other hand,

PITRA DOSHA AND MULTIPLE RELATIONHIPS

Pitra Dosha or Pithru Dosham also affects the following persons: 1. Getting married to a Man as Second Wife knowing fully well that he is already married and has a family. 2. Getting married to a Man as Second Wife, but doesn't know that he had been married already. Here the Pitra Dosha or Pithru Dosham affects the Husband only, not the Wife. The Second Marriage opens the door for 1. Trouble in the family; separation of couples. 2. Stealing a property that belongs to someone; here the property means "Husband of another Woman". 3. Playing havoc in the life of a Woman. Thus those getting into Second Marriage gets sucked into the Vortex of this deadly Pitra Dosha or Pithru Dosham. No Pujas, Homams or Offerings can undo this Pitra Dosha or Pithru Dosham. It is gets erased only when the concerned person gets the taste of his/her own Medicine.

PITRA DOSHA ON ILLEGAL RELATIONSHIP

Pitra Dosha or Pithru Dosham clearly defines rules on married/martial life. The Pitra Dosha or Pithru Dosham affects the following types of persons. 1. Husband/Wife having illegal relationship with a married/unmarried Men and Women. 2. Husband/Wife maintaining illegtimate relationship with or without the knowledge of his/her life partner. 3. Anyone helping or instrumental on thrusting illegal or illegtimate relationship. 4. People who induce/threaten others through various means to have relationship would also come under this category. Next, we see the quantum of punishment for different type of illegal relationship.

PITRA DOSHA FROM SUICIDE

Let us look at the teachings of Hindu Vedas on the subject of Suicide. The Suicide or ending the one's own life has been condemned by the Vedas. The Hindu Vedas do not approve or sympathezise with people, who are committing suicide. In fact, the trouble does not stop with the committing the abhorrent  practice. The curse and trouble actually starts immediately after the death. As per the Hindu Vedas, a person lives a life as per the quantum of his Sins & Virtue. The Vedas defines five type of heinous crimes, which can not be erased through offerings, homam or pujas; but gets eliminated only when the accused person also undergoes similar type of agony in their life. Hence a Man/Women can not escape this punishment by ending their life. Suppose a Man is destined to live upto 90 Years of age, but he choose to die at the age of 34 Years due to the Physical, Mental or Financial stress. He can not leave this Earth immediately and wait for his turn in the Pithru Loga. He/She

PITRA DOSHA AND ABORTION

One of the major cause for Pitra Dosha or Pithru Dosham is aborting a pregnancy. When a Soul decides to take a rebirth, it comes alive inside the womb of a women. In detail, the women carries a foetus, which is biologically alive. There are millions of living microbes, creatures in the world with different physical structures and chemical organisms. We consider these as living organisms, which are all part of this World. Similar way, the foetus in the womb of a woman is also a living man/woman in a different form. By destroying a foetus inside the womb is equivalent to murdering a man/woman. Also our Vedas clearly teach us that killing a person who is not equal or incapable of defending himself would bring harsher punishment. For example, in those days even during the wars, the soliders fight with another soldier of equivalent strength only. A Soldier on horse never fights with a soldier on foot. Here killing is committed on a living foetus, incapable of defending himself/herself.

PITRA DOSHA AND ENVIRONMENT

You may be surprised to know that the Hindu Vedic Princples touches on the Environment too. Let us see, what the Vedas tell us on Environment. Pitra Dosha or Pithru Dosham affects the people and their future generations (21 generations) on following grounds too. 1. People who destroys Waterbodies. (Lakes, Ponds, Canals, Wells and bore wells). 2. People who block Waterways (obstructing the free flow of Water). 3. People who block or enroach upon Public lands or lands meant for use of Public facilities. (Temples, Roads, Schools, Burial Grounds and Medical purpose). 4. Those who live, Purchase, Construct, Sell and even those renting the enroached lands are susceptible  to this Pithru Dosham. 5. People who misuse the Public funds meant for the development of Public Places.   6. People who deface or make it unberable or undesirable to use the Public Places. The Pitra Dosha or Pithru Dosham will befall only on the siblings of the accused person. The Accused Person wil

PITRA DOSHA FOR ARMY & POLICE PERSONNEL

What happens to Army Men,  Policemen  and other Government Officials who takes orders from their superiors to kill the Enemy/Murderers/Criminals? What happens to the Higher Government Authority who orders the killing of a particular person, who are detrimental to peace and tranquility? The Hindu Vedic Principle clearly lays down rules for the Kings(Government as of today) to kill the criminals to safeguard the ordinary peoples. Also Police/Army personnel also comes under this rules. 1. The Killing must be done for the welfare of the peoples. 2. The Killing should not be done for any pecuniary benefits or for personal reasons. 3. The Killings should happen, only when all other options are exhausted. But the Killing automatically brings Brahmahatti Dosham/Pitra Dosha/Pithru Dosham. Even the Gods do necessary Pujas to eliminate this Brahmahatti Dosham after the slaying of Asuras (Evil Powers). Hence it is imperative for the Police & Army Men to do Pitra Tharpanam or Pith

IMPORTANCE OF BEING VEGETARIAN

Let us find out the connections between Pitra Dosha or Pithru Dosham and Vegetarianism The Hindu Vedas clearly teaches the importance of being a Vegetarian. We know the five sins that can not be nullified by doing Pithru Puja, Homams and Offerings. One among them is that we should never harass or harm any living creatures for our own pleasures. Killing or maiming attracts maximum punishment from the God by "Brahmahatti Dosham". This "Brahmahatti Dosham" brings all kinds of ills and troubles. A person is equally guilty, if he/she is directly or indirectly responsible for maiming or killing of a living creature. Thus eating Non-Vegetarian dishes also bring some form of this Pitra Dosha or Pithru Dosham. The Hindu Vedas also teach us that every person should also do Pitra Tharpanam or Pithru Tharpanam for killing or maiming any insects, worms or any other small living things unknowingly or unwittingly. We should also do Puja for Vegetables, Plants and Fruits th

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER DEATH? (PART 1)

As per the Hindu Vedic teachings, a soul will not die; but only the body perishes. But the soul after leaving the body carries its virtue and sins that has been earned during its life time. The Soul can not take a rebirth immediately. It has to live in Pitra Loga or Pithru Loga (Anscestor's World) after its departure from the Earth. The Pitra Loga or Pithru Loga's one day equals our Earth's one year. Thus doing Pitra Tharpanam or Pithru Tharpanam once in a year means feeding and remembering your departed anscestors on daily basis. If a Soul fails to get this service done by his Sons/Daughters, then it has to wait for 100's of years for a rebirth; still such time arrives, the Soul waits for its turn in Pitra Loga or Pithru Loga. Angered by the delay, the Souls curse their own siblings. This brings the worst form of Pitra Dosha or Pithru Dosham. This leads to cascading effects on Marriage, Child birth, Harmonius living and physical and mental illness on the entire fa

PITRA DOSHA AND AGED PARENTS

Pitra Dosha or Pithru Dosham and Old Age Peoples Pitra Dosha or Pithru Dosham not only covers the neglect of departed souls, but the living aged peoples especially parents. We find out the peoples, who gets affected by Pitra Dosha or Pithru Dosham. 1. Offsprings especially Sons (but includes daughter too to a certain extent) who neglect their aged parents. 2. Indifference shown by their Sons/daughters due to economic, property and personal disputes on the aged parents. 3. Husband and Wife should treat their father/mother in-laws as their own parents; failure on the part of Husband or Wife to look after their in-laws invite Pitra Dosha or Pithru Dosham. 4. No one can escape from Pitra Dosha or Pithru Dosham by declaring that he/she looks after their parents/in-laws monetarily; but lives separately from them. 5. Looking after means tending them with care, politeness along with love and affection; does not mean anything about money. 6. Separating Husband & Wife to live

CAN WE DO PITRA THRAPANAM THROUGH PROXIES?

The fundamental concept of doing this Pitra Tharpanam or Pithru Tharpanam is to understand the following issues. 1. The Souls do not die; they transform to a different form. 2. There are strong connections between the departed souls to their living offspring. 3. The departed souls expect the warmth relationship and attention towards them; also they expect their offsprings to do all these Pitra Tharpanam, so as to attain salvation and get ready for their next re-birth. So they expect their Sons/daughters to perform this Pitra Tharpanam or Pithru Tharpanam, to help them to finish their stay in Pitra Loga or Pithru Loga (World). So the money and luxury does not get counted here; rather the love, affection and unforgetting attitude towards their departed anscestors help the person to gain immense benefit out of it. So Pitra Tharpanam or Pitra puja would bring beneficial results only through the personal involvement of the concerned person; not by doing it through proxies. In fac

Mahalaya Amavasya

WHAT IS MAHALAYA AMAVASYA? Mahalaya Amavasya is the highly auspicious time for performing Pitra Puja or Pithru Puja to pacify the departed souls of the anscestors. The period starting from the Pirathamai Thithi (Tamil) or Pratipad Thithi (Hindi) (that is) the day next to Full Moon day (Poornima/Pournami) in the tamil month of Purattasi (Sept 15th - Oct 15th) and ending on the Amavasya Thithi (New Moon day) is the most auspicious time for performing this Pithru Puja. It is good if the Pitra Puja is done on daily basis (15 days). If that is not possible, doing the Pitra Puja atleast on the day with Bharani Star and day with Ashtami Thithi is highly auspicious.
