PITRA DOSHA: IMPLICATION OF NEGLECTING THE AGED PARENTS

Important Duty of the Son/Daughter to their Aged Parents:

As per the Hindu Vedas, the Pitra Dosha is likely to affect the offspring of the Person (or) the Family who has neglected their aged Parents (or) aged Peoples.

1. Every male must look after their aged parents with care and respect; the women (daughter-in-law) must not abuse them and ill treat them

2. Every male must also look after their father-in-law and mother-in-law, if they don't have any male offspring.

3. Every male must look after their family elders, if they are destitute and financially poor.

What do you mean by "Looking after" the aged Parents/Peoples?

1. The Parents/Elders must be treated with care and respect.

2. Sending money or food doesn't mean that the Parents & Persons are looked after well.

3. Physical care and attention must be given @ aged Parents/Peoples must not be isolated or forced to remain or live alone.

4. Mis-treating the aged peoples because of their age, status, relationship or economical strength or disability in physical or mental health doesn't indicate that the aged peoples are looked after well.

Cardinal Duties of every Son and the Daughter:

1. "Jiva-dhor vaa-kya kara-nath": Every one must obey their Parents during their lifetime and must look after their Parents with great care and comfort throughout their lifetime.

2. "Prath-yaf-tham Poori Poja-nath": Every must do the following Karma after the death of their Parents.

a) Must do all the rituals (Apara-samaskarangal) for the first 12 days from the date of death.

b) Must do all the monthly rituals (Masigam) for the first 1 Year from the month of death.

c) Must compulsorily do the Yearly rituals (Shraddham) on the completion of first year from the date of death.

3. "Gaya-yam Pinda tha-nacha": Everyone must give "Pinda-Tharpanam" in Gaya (Bihar) under the Vishnu patham (Feet of Lord Maha Vishnu) and must do the Gaya Shraddham in the Palguni river running alongside.

If a pesron is able to perform all these 3 conditions, then he/she will be gifting a perfect and excellent life for his/her future generations without any form of Pitra Dosha.

HOW TO REMOVE PITRA DOSHA IN AN EFFECTIVE MANNER?

Simple method to get wonderful results to remove the "Pitra Dosha"

1. Try to do Pithru Tharpanam (using black seasme seeds) on daily basis by spending atleast 10 minutes in the early morning. Please read this page to find out the methods for doing the Pithru Tharpanam  http://pithrudosham.blogspot.in/p/pithru-tharpanam.html

2. If you are not able to do it on daily basis, please do it on the following days @ Days with Amavasya (New Moon), first day of Hindu calendar months and days that comes with the thithi of the departed ancestor.

3. Even if you are not able to do it on all these days, you can select any of the days and perform the Pithru Tharpanam.

4. The Pithru Tharpanam done on the banks of the sacred river or desginated temples or holy places would deliver 100 times good results over the Tharpanam being done in the house.

5. Giving Pinda Tharpanam is highly effective than giving Yel (Tamil), Till (Hindi) Seasme seeds Tharpanam.

6. Doing Shraddham (remembrance day/ the thithi on which the ancestors have departed) on a regular (yearly) basis delivers wonderful results.

7. If the Shraddham is done on the banks of sacred river or holy places or designated places would provide wonderful results.

8. If the Shraddham is being done along with every member of the family, it will deliver excellent results.

9. If the Shraddham is being done on different holy places on every year along with the entire family members, then it will shower unimaginable excellent benefits on the entire family.

IMPORTANCE OF SEASME SEEDS

What is the importance of Yel (Tamil)/Tilli (Hindi)/Seasme (English)?

The Seasme seeds are considered to be sacred and it satisfies the hunger and the thirst of your ancestors. When the seasme seeds are offered to the dead ancestors along with the water, it slowly reduces the binding relationship between the dead ancestors and their erstwhile members of the family. When the bond between the dead ancestors and their family members are broken, then the departed soul would be ready to make another journey for a re-birth in another family. Thus the Seasme seeds acts as a catalyst to break the bond between the living family members and the dead ancestors.

Do's and Dont's while doing Pithru Tharpanam:

1. Never do this Pithru Tharpanam without taking head bath and your body & mind should be clean and calm.

2. Must do this Pithru Tharpanam on empty stomach (no coffee/water too)

3. Never eat Non Vegetarian foods on the day that you do this ritual.

4. It is highly sinful to offer Non Vegetarian foods/alochol to the departed souls.

5. It is highly damaging to mix seasme seeds with any non vegetarian foods.

6. Should not take bath (for the whole day) after completing Pithru Tharpanam or Pujas.

7. It is always good to offer foods to those who are in really need of it.

8. Never do Pithru Tharpanam on your Jenma Nakshatras.

9. It is good to visit temples after completing the Pithru Tharpanam.

BEST TIME FOR PITRA PUJA

Which is the best time to do Pitra Puja?

Garuda asks Lord Narayana about the best timings of doing Pitra Puja or Pithru Puja.

Lord Narayana replies that every person who has born in this world is bound to worship their anscestors on regular basis; 365 days in a year.

Garuda asks Lord Narayana that if a person is not able to do this puja on daily basis, what else he can do?

Lord Narayana replies that everyone must perform puja atleast on the 96 shrartha days in a year.

When Garuda asks Lord Narayana for those who are not able to do this; what should be done?

Lord Narayana replies that atleast once in a month (@12 times a year) either on 1. New Moon Day (Amavasya) 2. First day of Tamil month 3. Or atleast on the thithi of his/her immediate departed ancestors.

Garuda asks for the people who do not perform this puja too.

Lord Narayana replies that everyone should perform this puja on the yearly thithi of his/her immediate departed ancestors. Because our ancestors live in a separate world called PITRA LOGAM. In that world their one day equals our 1 year (365 days).

Thus by doing this Pitra pooja atleast once during a year, everyone feeds his anscestors on daily basis; remember them on daily basis too. Failure to do this, would bring all kinds of troubles to the entire family through Pitra Dosha.
