If a death occurs on a day with following Nakshatra, then the death brings "Pinda Nool Dosha" to the remaining members of the family.

1. Kettai - Jyestha
2. Karthigai - Kiruthigai
3. Pooram - Poorva
4. Purattathi - Purva Bhadra
5. Pooradam - Purva Sada
6. Ayilyam - Ashlesha
7. Bharani
8. Thiruvathira - Aridra
9. Moolam - Moola

Implications of the Pinda Nool Dosha:

A death on these above mentioned Nakshatra would bring in subsquent deaths in the same family within a year. It could affect any member of the family but the person who had done the last rites are the most vulenrable to this particular dosha.

Remedial Measures to avoid the bad effects of the "Pinda Nool Dosha":

1. The Corpse of the dead person must be cremated on the same day before sunset. The body should not be kept in the house overnight for any reason.

2. A Lamp filled with seasme seeds oil must be lit up after the death and the care must be taken that it is burnt continously for a minimum of 16 days. No one (men & women) should never touch it or enter the room (where the lamp is lit), if they remain unclean. Women with menstural period should not touch or enter the room.

3. After the 16th day, the Lamp (still burning) must be donated to the Purohits along with necessary donations on an auspicious day.

4. Ganapathi Puja and Mirutyunjaya Homam must be performed (after the 16th day) in the house by finding an auspicious day.

5. You must donate new clothes (preferably cotton) to mentally retarded children or adults.

6. Regular Yel (Seasme seeds) Tharpanam or Pinda Tharpanam must be done regularly for the first one year.
