Which is the best time to do Pitra Puja?
Garuda asks Lord Narayana about the best timings of doing Pitra Puja or Pithru Puja.
Lord Narayana replies that every person who has born in this world is bound to worship their anscestors on regular basis; 365 days in a year.
Garuda asks Lord Narayana that if a person is not able to do this puja on daily basis, what else he can do?
Lord Narayana replies that everyone must perform puja atleast on the 96 shrartha days in a year.
When Garuda asks Lord Narayana for those who are not able to do this; what should be done?
Lord Narayana replies that atleast once in a month (@12 times a year) either on 1. New Moon Day (Amavasya) 2. First day of Tamil month 3. Or atleast on the thithi of his/her immediate departed ancestors.
Garuda asks for the people who do not perform this puja too.
Lord Narayana replies that everyone should perform this puja on the yearly thithi of his/her immediate departed ancestors. Because our ancestors live in a separate world called PITRA LOGAM. In that world their one day equals our 1 year (365 days).
Thus by doing this Pitra pooja atleast once during a year, everyone feeds his anscestors on daily basis; remember them on daily basis too. Failure to do this, would bring all kinds of troubles to the entire family through Pitra Dosha.
