CAN WE DO PITRA THRAPANAM THROUGH PROXIES?

The fundamental concept of doing this Pitra Tharpanam or Pithru Tharpanam is to understand the following issues.

1. The Souls do not die; they transform to a different form.

2. There are strong connections between the departed souls to their living offspring.

3. The departed souls expect the warmth relationship and attention towards them; also they expect their offsprings to do all these Pitra Tharpanam, so as to attain salvation and get ready for their next re-birth.

So they expect their Sons/daughters to perform this Pitra Tharpanam or Pithru Tharpanam, to help them to finish their stay in Pitra Loga or Pithru Loga (World). So the money and luxury does not get counted here; rather the love, affection and unforgetting attitude towards their departed anscestors help the person to gain immense benefit out of it.

So Pitra Tharpanam or Pitra puja would bring beneficial results only through the personal involvement of the concerned person; not by doing it through proxies. In fact this will add to the existing woes. Hence it is better not to do this.

PINDA NOOL DOSHAM

Dosham occuring due to the Death:  If a death occurs on a day with following Nakshatra, then the death brings "Pinda Nool Dosha" to the remaining members of the family. 1. Kettai - Jyestha 2. Methods to be followed in performing "Pitra Dosha Puja"  in Rameswaram: 1.      Go to Rameswaram and stay overnight. Get up early in the morning and take bath in the “Agni Theertham” meaning “Holy water from the Fire God” (Sea overlooking the East Temple Tower). 2.      Then you must take bath in all the “Punya Theerthams” (Holy water) that are placed inside the Temple.
