Pitra Dosha or Pithru Dosham clearly defines rules on married/martial life. The Pitra Dosha or Pithru Dosham affects the following types of persons.


1. Husband/Wife having illegal relationship with a married/unmarried Men and Women.

2. Husband/Wife maintaining illegtimate relationship with or without the knowledge of his/her life partner.

3. Anyone helping or instrumental on thrusting illegal or illegtimate relationship.

4. People who induce/threaten others through various means to have relationship would also come under this category.

Next, we see the quantum of punishment for different type of illegal relationship.

Dosham occuring due to the Death:  If a death occurs on a day with following Nakshatra, then the death brings "Pinda Nool Dosha" to the remaining members of the family. 1. Kettai - Jyestha 2. Methods to be followed in performing "Pitra Dosha Puja"  in Rameswaram: 1.      Go to Rameswaram and stay overnight. Get up early in the morning and take bath in the “Agni Theertham” meaning “Holy water from the Fire God” (Sea overlooking the East Temple Tower). 2.      Then you must take bath in all the “Punya Theerthams” (Holy water) that are placed inside the Temple.
